MOBOT Gets New Visitor Center

Ground breaking to occur in January

If the Missouri Botanical Garden is on your must-visit list, you might want to wait until the new visitor center is complete. That won't be until 2022, so if you're already in the area, just be sure to come back and visit again once it's finished! Ground will be broken in January o 2020 for the new visitor center, which will cost $92 million. That sounds like an enormous amount of money, but given that some was donated and it's going to cover everything from endangered species to accessibility, many think it's money well spent.

The building, which will be made of glass and Missouri granite, is also supposed to better highlight the garden, as looks can be deceiving around the current center. As a huge fan of the garden, I was shocked to learn that my husband not only had never been, but that he'd believed it to all be indoors, before we had a membership.

What do you think of the new visitor center? Share your thoughts in the chat.
